Through salvation in Christ we receive holiness as our sins are hidden and covered by Christ’s blood. However we must strive to grow and increase in holiness as the act of salvation does not preclude us from sin and separation for God’s presence. So God’s statement for us to be holy because He is holy is His request for us to pursue holiness.
