Setting Out Eyes On Jesus

‭Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT‬
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Jesus, by his life, displayed to us how we should live in sacrificial obedience unto God, thus authoring our faith, and then our life is perfected in surrender and sacrifice of ourselves even unto death if that be required.

We must, as Paul writes in Romans…

‭Romans 12:1 NLT‬
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

A living sacrifice is a life of surrender and obedient servitude to the Most High as we pursue holiness through continuous reformation of our carnal man by the work of the Spirit in us.
